"Ancestral Beings is a deeply symbolic composition in which the faces are not portraits but entities. With large, asymmetrical gazes, elongated features and meticulously drawn graphic contours, these figures appear to be ancestral spirits - guardians of an ancient world, forgotten by time but still present in the collective subconscious. The texture of the work, almost etched, conveys a sense of layering - as if looking through several epochs of visual memory. There is no background per se, just a constant presence of figures intersecting, overlapping, and looking towards each other and towards us. The tones of ochre, brown and deep black emphasise the spiritual character, creating a space of reflection rather than decoration. The figures are silent but unsettling - they communicate not through expression but by their mere presence. Part of the Africa collection, 'Ancestral Beings' is a work about primordial identity, about roots that cannot be severed, and about that part of us that remains forever connected to humanity's tribal origins.
