L'été doux Collection

It all happened one summer. L'été douce. A pleasant torridness hangs over the city. The usual hustle and bustle is replaced by a sweet numbness, the noise, a dull, harmonious hum, as if the whole town has hidden itself away in a little café in Paris.

The streets are lined with select art galleries, displaying impressionistic works by local artists. Passers-by of different ages fall under this spell. Clothes are loose, letting the wind cool their sunburnt skin. Raffia hats walk down the main street, and small lace umbrellas protect lithe, elegant bodies, leaving behind a wave of enthusiasm. Bauhaus-style buildings structure the urban landscape. Their verticality constrains the appearance and effect it gives to the city. Pastel colours caress the gaze of passers-by, contributing to the overall cheerfulness and relaxation of this place.

One can smell the freedom, the relaxation of the soul and the harmony vibrating in every cell. The emotions resonate within people. Then they tingle through the skin, the sunburnt cheeks and shoulders. Heat carries them up and down, contracts and expands them. For a few seconds, they float in uneven shapes, then, more and more, they become objects of their own. The contours start from a single point, then build, ripple, take on texture and colour, until they become works of art. How many emotions can be found in the VLAdiLA summer?

Juin

The flowers on the roadside dance in unison, guided by the uneven cadence of the breeze. In the air wafts the tantalising aroma of the sugar cane sold in the boutiques dotted from place to place. In front of the ice-cream parlours, teenagers share impressions of the weather and other nothings, actually enjoying conversation and connection. Despite the long queues, warm smiles and kind expressions wait to indulge in vanilla and pistachio or chocolate and caramel.

The whole Rue de Rivoli is framed by cheerful cherry trees wearing their finery. Passers-by are invited to gaze at their passionate redness and enjoy their fleshy texture and sour taste that awakens and invigorates. Together with the green leaves, the contrast creates a splash of colour in the pastel theme of the city.

Juillet

Holiday. From everything that holds you captive. From everything that keeps you from floating, from flying, from being who you are. Short rains drive the heat out of the earth, spreading around the smell of freshly mown grass, of life taking its natural course. Plans are made and pass, like the unfoamed waves that leave as quietly as they came. No one is in a hurry, and every moment is lived with the intensity of adolescence.

Emotions accompany every moment of the day. The morning smells of oranges and is infused with enthusiasm and good energy. To the backdrop of their favourite tunes, the town's teenagers start their day in a cheerful mood, each one tending to their personal taboos. Cereal with milk or coffee, toast with apricot jam - taste is the first sense they indulge. Lunch is reserved for making plans. Emotions: anticipation, creativity, joy. In anticipation of going out, some of them spend their time getting lost among the lines of detective novels or love stories. For others, series or films keep them company until they catch up with friends.

Around 5pm, the bustle of preparation makes its presence felt. It takes energy and imagination to put together the perfect outfit or, conversely, calm and relaxation to settle for the same clothes as the day before. After all, it doesn't matter much. No one has anything to prove. Here in our little town, people are substance, much more than they are form. In the evening air, conversations float about the old school year, about teachers and loves. Then deep sleep. The open windows cool the air in the room, letting in the cheerful falls of crickets. It's all excitement on July nights.

Août

Sea, beach, sand. Shells in blonde hair and on the beach, algae eager for underwater hugs. Strong, burning sun. Tanned skin under white linen shirts, multicoloured umbrellas, hats and sunglasses. Cold drops drip from glasses, and ice cubes in lemonade sing their merry clink with every step. There's something deeply revealing in the contrasts. The warmth of the sand and the coolness of the sea. The quiet of the day and the hustle and bustle of the night parties. The innocence of the child and the curiosity of the teenager. Love and disappointment, fear and courage, all typical of the sweet period of brief adolescence.

The new generation approaches life in different ways, but what they have in common is the joy and excitement they feel during summer. Maybe it's because of the holiday or the opportunity to travel. Maybe because summer means time for them, for their passions and for what makes them happy and relaxes them. Maybe because they are eager for connection, endless conversations and friendship. Maybe because they feel the thrill of first love, or the sting of first broken hearts. Or maybe it's because in spite of all these things, these new beginnings and new feelings they have, you can capture in a smile or a fleeting glance, the essence of the children they were until recently.
